The 2008-2009 WYSL Select / District Olympic Development Program offers a unique opportunity for the most talented and committed players within the WYSL a chance to come together on one "all-star" team to further extend their skills by training and competing at a faster pace and higher level of play. Players who are invited into the Select Program are trained by the area’s top level coaches under the USYS national training curriculum which is not normally available to players at the club team level. Our Program continues to grow with just under 600 players competing last season for our 240 roster spots on our 9 Select Teams.

The Select Program is intended to supplement not replace your WYSL club team. Most of your potential questions have been addressed in this program overview. Please read this carefully.

New for 2008-2009:
The 1997 and 1996 Boys and Girls Select Teams will be designated ENYYSA District Olympic Development Teams. These teams will compete at the State ODP ID Tournament in early May from which players will be selected to form the Eastern New York State 1997and 1996 ODP Teams.  

Tryouts:
Tryouts for this year’s Select Teams for players born from 1994-1997 will start on Monday, September 15th and are open to all WYSL registered players. The Select Tryout Schedule has been posted. Please Click on the "Tryout Schedule"  link in the left hand column for this year’s schedule. (returning Select Players must tryout each season)

Tryout Advance Registration:
All players Boys & Girls 1994-1997 must register in advance of your tryout date.The tryout fee is $25.00. Tryout registration is on line and is now  active. Please click on the "Tryout Registration" link also in the left hand column.

There is a specific Developmental Program for players born in 1998-1999. This age group will not tryout and will be able to enroll directly into the Program.  Developmental Program Registration will be active on September 15, 2008. Please follow the Development Registration link in the left hand column to register at that time, please do not delay. Due to field constraints registration will be limited to the first 50 players per age, per gender.
We will wait list players once this target level has been reached. The Program will begin with 2-3 preliminary practice sessions beginning in November, weather permitting, and resume in mid-March through June.
