The WYSL and a number of its clubs have collected used soccer gear for donation to youth in Rwanda.  Almost 30% of all children in Rwanda are orphans as a result of civil war and ethnic conflict.  A New Rochelle-based charity, Esther’s Aid for Needy and Abandoned Children, has been collecting donations of clothing, medical supplies and educational materials and ships these donations periodically to Rwanda. 
 
New Rochelle, Scarsdale and Pelham donated "retired" team uniforms, and WYSL individuals and clubs donatrf used soccer equipment including balls, cleats, shinguards, socks, warms up suits, goalie gear, nets, referee uniforms, coaching books and other soccer gear.  Donations can be dropped at the WYSL office at 271 North Ave, Suite 206, New Rochelle (Esther’s Aid is based in the office next door).  The photos below show teams in Rwanda wearing donated uniforms.
