The Uptown Soccer Academy, a new organization that has joined the WYSL as a recreational soccer club, has begun teaching soccer after school in the Washington Heights and Inwood sections of Manhattan. Their program, which is offered free to children in these communities, is in need of of "gently used" soccer gear such as cleats, shinguards, socks, balls and other equipment. If any clubs, teams or players are looking for a community service project, a soccer gear collection effort for this new program would be welcome. For more information, visit Uptown Soccer Academy at http://s2.webstarts.com/uptownsoccer/ or email UptownSoccer@gmail.com.
