Schedulers Notes - Fall 2009 Final Schedule

Scheduler's Notes on the Final Schedule for Fall 2009

Players, organizers, coaches,

The division schedules below for Fall 2009 are final.  Please check them as carefully as you did the Preliminary Schedule.

Unlike the Prelim, we do not send out or post a spread sheet of the schedule because it becomes inaccurate almost immediately.  The hardcopy Final Master Field schedule was sent to the printer on Thursday September 3rd and handed out at the league meeting on Tuesday the 8th.  57 games changed in 4 days.  Most are simple changes: a field name, a field switch, a small time adjustment.  But many are changes in whether a team is home, who is playing, as well as field and time changes. We had a team drop out on Sunday so one division is extensively redone. Since the Prelim about 250 games have changed. So do not refer anymore to the preliminary schedule!! Destroy any copies.

Anyone can see their club’s schedule by going to the club page (click on Complete Club Schedule) or to the team schedule from the team page.  As with the Preliminary Master Field, everyone needs to check their team’s and club’s schedules. This check should be as thorough as before.  If you find a mistake, let me know immediately: terrybenson@nyc.rr.com.

As with the Prelim, do not make ANY new requests for coach coordination or schedule adjustments. It’s too late. Do not ask.

I believe all the coordinated coaches should be able to get from the end of one game to the beginning of the next. It may not be comfortable. If I missed a conflict, let me know. The general requests were more trouble. Prefer early, prefer late, etc are very difficult especially in fall. I hope the schedule works for the families.

There will be more changes to the schedule. There are probably some mistakes and towns sometimes change fields on what seems to be a whim. Keep checking the schedule. Keep the email contacts on your team page up to date. Add others so that any change notice goes to more people.

Teams must call their opponent in mid-week (not Friday!) and speak to an adult to confirm the weekend game, work out uniform conflicts, make sure the directions are clear, note any special problems, etc. It’s a nice thing to do and it is our fail safe for catching mistakes. This is an obligation on *both* home and away teams. Make sure you talk. It’s a nice 19th century technology for 21st century soccer.

Thank you to the club organizers and team managers for making the season work.
