WYSL CONCUSSION GAME MANAGEMENT POLICY
Westchester Youth Soccer League’s policy on concussions is intended to be clear and unambiguous so as to reflect the seriousness of concussion-related injuries and the League’s overriding and unwavering commitment to keeping our players safe. It is our expectation that this policy will emphasize to all involved with the WYSL that player safety is our paramount priority and that it will simplify and facilitate communication between coaches and parents when concussion-related issues arise.
The game shall be stopped when the referee believes that a player has suffered an injury involving that player’s head and any such player shall be removed from the game. Any player so removed who exhibits one or more obvious observable signs or symptoms of a concussion as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control (and summarized below) shall not be permitted to return to play in that game.
